About the position

The Hostess at Belaire Backyard Clique is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests in a high-end dining environment. This role emphasizes excellent interpersonal skills, polished presentation, and the ability to manage guest flow effectively while maintaining professionalism and urgency in service. The Hostess will also engage in marketing efforts and assist in building a personal clientele.

Responsibilities

• Greeting guests in a positive, friendly manner and making them feel welcome.
• Anticipating guests' needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency.
• Maintaining professionalism to encourage guest return.
• Bidding farewell to guests using their names when known and encouraging them to return.
• Controlling the flow of guests into the restaurant, bar, and lounge under pressure.
• Overseeing daily restaurant reservations and pre-assigning seating where necessary.
• Answering telephone calls and directing them appropriately.
• Communicating with staff regarding VIPs, special orders, and large parties.
• Effectively communicating with management and service staff to address guest needs.
• Participating in weekly marketing requirements and adhering to table and guest list requirements.
• Assisting in developing the restaurant database through networking and completing data cards.
• Encouraging guests to make weekly table reservations and building personal clientele.
• Performing all opening and closing duties based on shift assignment.
• Cleaning menu covers and maintaining the podium area.
• Shutting down the podium and forwarding phones to voice-loop at the end of the shift.
• Following all company procedures and health regulations.

Requirements

• 1 year experience as a hostess in a high-volume restaurant or 6 months in a fine dining establishment.
• 1 year experience in marketing nightclubs or restaurants, or related experience in retail or marketing internship.
• Experience with social media platforms and active participation in social media.
• Good communication skills; multilingual is a plus.
• Proficient in speaking and reading English.
• Ability to program and operate a multi-line telephone.
• Basic computer skills and experience with POS systems and cash handling.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a high-stress, high-volume environment.
• Ability to follow directions, make quick decisions, and stay organized under pressure.
• Positive attitude, self-motivated, energetic, and willing to learn.
• Ability to perform duties with care and attention to detail.
• Professionally groomed according to department standards.
• Physically able to walk and stand for extended periods.
