About the position

The Hourly Credentialing Supervisor at the University of Iowa's Clinical Staff Office is responsible for overseeing credentialing verification processes for healthcare providers. This temporary, part-time role involves ensuring compliance with various accrediting standards, managing the workload of Credentialing Specialists, and serving as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Compile reports and statistics to ensure compliance is met.
  • Provide oversight and guidance over the Credentialing Specialists' workload.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and facilitate Credentials Subcommittee meetings and privileging ballots.
  • Investigate and analyze data for accuracy while adhering to compliance standards.
  • Review prepared privileging packets for completeness and checklists for managed care.
  • Monitor credentialing applications and materials with clinical department representatives.
  • Advise Credentialing Specialists on primary source verification issues.
  • Support daily credentialing operations and respond to inquiries.
  • Assist leadership in drafting department delineation statements and managing correspondence.
  • Conduct individual file audits to confirm adherence to managed care criteria.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Credentialing Specialists to coordinate workload.
  • Audit Credentialing Specialists' files and provide guidance on resolving issues.
  • Participate in monthly Quality Improvement meetings for process improvement.
  • Maintain and process reports and documentation related to credentialing and privileging practices.
  • Act as Administrator of the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) for the Clinical Staff Office.

Requirements

  • 1 or more years' recent experience as a Credentialing Supervisor.
  • BA or BS degree, or a combination of related education and experience.
  • 1-3 years' experience in a regulatory environment requiring attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of UI Health Care Bylaws, Rules & Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and NCQA standards.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellence in written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some supervisory and/or training experience (6 months - 1 year).
  • Some administrative experience, including accounting (6 months - 1 year).
