About the position
The Housekeeping Aide at Birchaven Village is responsible for performing daily housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive environment in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures. This role is essential for ensuring resident satisfaction and safety within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety precautions and use personal protective equipment when performing tasks.
- Keep work areas free of hazardous objects and use wet floor signs when necessary.
- Disinfect assigned areas to prevent the spread of disease.
- Ensure premises, equipment, and facility are clean, orderly, and attractive at all times.
- Answer call lights and communicate resident needs to appropriate staff members.
- Replenish supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items, returning unused supplies to the utility room at the end of the shift.
- Update water temperature log, communication book, work list, and write maintenance and floor care slips as needed.
- Check unlocked doors and windows for general security purposes.
- Display service excellence and adhere to the organization's mission, vision, and values to promote resident satisfaction.
- Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure quality job performance and regulatory compliance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
