About the position

The Human Resources Generalist II at the University of Florida plays a crucial role in managing various HR functions, including job actions, recruitment, tenure and promotion processes, payroll supervision, and employee records management. This position serves as a liaison between faculty, staff, and applicants, ensuring compliance with university policies and facilitating a smooth hiring process. The role also involves administrative support for tenure and promotion reviews, managing payroll processes, and overseeing departmental security access.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates job actions in the electronic Personnel Action Form (ePAF) System including hires, terminations, and pay increases.
  • Enters employee payroll distributions upon hire authorization and prepares appointment letters.
  • Communicates with other HR Liaisons on job actions requiring collaboration between units.
  • Advises Chair, faculty, and staff on complex HR matters and ensures compliance with hiring regulations.
  • Facilitates onboarding appointments for prospective hires and manages visa processes for foreign nationals.
  • Develops position descriptions and manages job requisitions for posting on the UF Careers website.
  • Collects applicant data, schedules interviews, and initiates background screenings.
  • Provides administrative support for the Tenure & Promotion process and tracks deadlines.
  • Supervises biweekly payroll and time reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintains confidential HR records and manages departmental HR forms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and UF HR systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • State of Florida Notary Public certification.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $55,000 - $60,000 per year.
  • Full-time employment with a structured work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
