About the position

The Inventory Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making within the finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accrual accounting principles and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Work with cost accounting and operations systems, inventory cycle count activities, and periodic inventory cost analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain internal corporate cost accounting procedures manuals documenting all significant procedures.
  • Reconcile and monitor inventory subsystems to the general ledger and explain monthly variances to inventory balances and prepare related journal entries.
  • Manage spare level, obsolescence, and excess inventory.
  • Handle purchased parts accruals, accumulated depreciation, and allowance for obsolescence.
  • Interface transactions from inventory subsystem to general ledger.
  • Assist in joint venture activities.
  • Meet all deadlines related to the accountant's areas of responsibilities and assist the CFO with meeting departmental deadlines.
  • Conduct financial audits and assist in the preparation of audit reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting principles.
  • Excellent financial acumen with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Proficient in financial auditing practices and procedures.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is desirable.
  • Competent in balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while managing individual responsibilities effectively.
