About the position

The Island TV Studio Support Student Assistant position at Florida International University (FIU) involves providing clerical, administrative, and technical support to the Island TV activities within the FIU BBC TV Studio. The role is designed for students currently enrolled at FIU, allowing them to gain practical experience while assisting with day-to-day operations and production tasks in a professional media environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides clerical, administrative, and technical support to Island TV activities in the FIU BBC TV Studio.
• Assists with the day-to-day operational activities of Island TV.
• Assists Island TV with evening studio production tasks.
• Serves as the FIU point person for Island TV when they are in the FIU BBC TV studio.
• Trains Island TV personnel on the use of equipment in the FIU BBC TV studio.
• May serve as a member of the production crew while Island TV is working in the BBC TV studio.
• Resolves routine problems using pre-existing guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
• Ability to train knowledgeable individuals on how to use BBC TV Studio facilities.
• Knowledge of office computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Knowledge of media production applications (Adobe Premiere).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude, demonstrates flexibility, and is a team player.
• Consistency and timeliness in attendance and task management.
