About the position

The IT Security Administrator II is responsible for the day-to-day operations of security solutions, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems. This role involves identifying, investigating, and resolving security incidents, as well as developing and implementing security solutions that align with the enterprise's security architecture. The administrator must be knowledgeable about the organization's security goals and actively work to uphold them.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, designing, and implementation of enterprise security architecture.
  • Drive the creation of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures).
  • Perform the deployment, integration, and initial configuration of new security solutions and enhancements to existing solutions.
  • Implement best practice configurations for network and endpoint security solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date baselines for the secure configuration and operation of all in-place devices.
  • Maintain and administer operational configurations of in-place security solutions.
  • Review logs and reports of all in-place devices and interpret the implications of that activity.
  • Support end users and assist IT in resolving network and endpoint related problems.
  • Monitor and interpret security system events, analyzing potential threats and vulnerabilities on networks.
  • Perform analysis of network traffic and alerts to assess, prioritize, and differentiate between potential intrusion attempts and false alarms.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cyber Security, or related field.
  • 1+ years of network and/or security administration experience.
  • Must live within 45 miles of the posted office location.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry Certification (GCIH, GCIA, GMON, etc.)
  • Experience with IPS/IDS, packet/traffic analysis and related tools.
  • Experience with information security principles and practices, including Virtual Private Networks, Security Information and Event Management, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux, Microsoft operating systems, and network devices.
  • Basic understanding of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) is recommended but not required.
  • Experience with next-generation firewall configuration and maintenance for enterprise deployments.
