About the position
The Lead Charge Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Unit at Lutheran Hospital is responsible for overseeing patient care in a new Intermediate Care Unit/Step Down/Progressive Care setting. This role involves working weekends and one additional day during the week, focusing on post-ICU care for patients recovering from strokes and trauma. The position emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and the application of specialized nursing skills in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursing staff in the Progressive Care Unit.
- Provide high-quality patient care to post-ICU patients, including those recovering from strokes and trauma.
- Manage and monitor patients with titratable drips, central lines, PICC lines, BIPAP, and Hi-Flow Oxygen.
- Ensure compliance with ALCS and NIHSS certifications within the required timeframe.
- Mentor and support nursing staff in their professional development.
Requirements
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) minimum.
- Valid Indiana RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days from hire.
- Completion of additional certifications within 90 days to 6 months from hire.
