About the position

The Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students with disabilities in an elementary school setting. This position is expected to begin on or around March 10, 2025, and will continue through the end of the school year. The ideal candidate will be certified, highly qualified, and experienced in special education, demonstrating a passion for working with all students and the ability to collaborate effectively with co-professionals and communicate with parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction for students with disabilities (SWDs) consistent with NYS standards and regulations.
• Plan for, provide, and document instruction for SWDs.
• Write, interpret, and administer Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Complete assessments and report on student progress as appropriate.
• Collaborate with co-professionals to support student learning.
• Communicate effectively with students and parents.

Requirements

• Valid NYS Teacher Certification - Students with Disabilities All Grades, or Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6.
• Experience in Elementary Special Education.
• Ability to work collaboratively with co-professionals.
• Strong communication skills with students and parents.
• Competence in completing assessments and reporting.
