About The Position

The Loss Prevention Specialist at Ross Stores is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for both customers and associates. This role involves providing a visible presence at store entrances and exits, mitigating theft and fraud, and ensuring compliance with loss prevention directives. The Specialist is expected to engage with customers in a friendly manner while monitoring for potential theft indicators and supporting store leadership in minimizing operational shortages.

Requirements

• High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
• One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
• One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
• Active Security Guard License preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in retail loss prevention or security roles.
• Familiarity with theft prevention techniques and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible presence at store entrances/exits to deter theft and fraud.
• Greet customers courteously and maintain a friendly demeanor.
• Monitor the sales floor for potential theft indicators and suspicious behavior.
• Assist store leadership in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
• Educate associates on loss prevention initiatives and proper checkout procedures.
• Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
• Communicate effectively with store and loss prevention leadership regarding theft indicators.
• Represent and support the company brand at all times.
