About the position
The Maintenance Technician B position at Republic Services involves performing repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. Under the supervision of a Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor, the technician will work on various vehicle components, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic systems, and more. This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and provides a stable work environment with potential for professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks.
- Maintain a working knowledge of vehicle components and systems.
- Conduct preventative and repair maintenance functions on-site and on the road.
- Repair chassis components, refuse bodies, and control systems.
- Perform engine repair and maintenance, including suspension and drivetrain systems.
- Provide road service to ensure equipment is operational.
- Identify malfunctions using electronic tools and complete training programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technician position or graduation from an accredited automotive college within the next 3 months.
- Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
- Prior experience with maintenance on Classes 1-5 and Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
- Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with gasoline and diesel powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Ability to perform basic inspections on heavy truck or automotive systems.
