About the position
The Manager of Security Services is responsible for leading the operational functions of the Security Services Department at John Muir Health. This role ensures the security and safety of all persons and property within the medical center and surrounding campus. The manager develops and implements security strategies, conducts risk assessments, and collaborates with various stakeholders. Additionally, this position is integral to committees focused on workplace violence prevention, emergency preparedness, and threat management, overseeing a team of security personnel and addressing security-related concerns.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational functions of the Security Services Department.
- Ensure the security and safety of all persons and property within the medical center and surrounding campus.
- Develop and implement security strategies and conduct risk assessments.
- Foster multidisciplinary collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee a team of security personnel and serve as the primary resource for security-related concerns.
- Contribute to a culture of excellence and security at John Muir Health.
- Participate in the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, Environment of Care Committee, and Emergency Preparedness and Threat Management team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related discipline (preferred).
- 5 years or more of experience in law enforcement, public safety, military, or healthcare security required.
- 3 years or more of management experience in a public safety or healthcare setting required.
- Driver License - Department of Motor Vehicles - Required.
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required.
- Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) - required within 12 months of hire.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Physical Security Professional (PSP) are acknowledged as having value and preferred.
- IAHSS Member - IAHSS International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety - Required.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of TJC, HICS, Title 22, Cal/OSHA, Cal/DCA BSIS - Required.
- Experience in disaster planning and response training - Required.
- Knowledge of other regulatory agencies and guidelines related to safety and security.
