About the position

The Mechanical Assembly Technician at PI (Physik Instrumente), LP is responsible for the assembly and build of precision machinery, automation systems, and motion control systems in an advanced manufacturing environment. This full-time role requires attention to detail and the ability to perform complex mechanical assembly tasks, ensuring high precision and quality in the production of innovative positioning systems used in various high-tech fields.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly of devices requiring precision alignments and metrology.
  • Soldering of small gauge wires (28-36 gauge).
  • Using a microscope for precision alignments and soldering of small devices.
  • Interpreting mechanical and technical product drawings and documentation.
  • Completing assembly and metrology records for regulatory and QC requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to complete complex mechanical assembly tasks and precision metrology measurements.
  • Moderate soldering experience, J-STD-001 preferred.
  • Familiarity with precision mechanical alignments, tools, and techniques.
  • Ability to use multi-meters, wire strippers, and standard assembly and metrology tools.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in a related field preferred.
  • Experience using standard office applications (Word, Excel, Email).
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean principles in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
