About the position

The Mechanical Designer will play a crucial role in the R&D Engineering team, focusing on the development of innovative electrical solutions. This position involves creating designs and documentation for new and existing products, managing projects, and ensuring that specifications are met. The designer will work independently on complex projects and contribute to the product development process, making a significant impact on the company's success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop designs and documentation for new and existing products by creating 3D models, drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).
  • Research specifications and identify purchased components for use in designs.
  • Manage both small and parts of large scale projects independently.
  • Direct and assist with the build of components and assemblies for prototypes and pilot builds.
  • Assist in the development of engineering, drafting, and release standards.
  • Perform tolerance stack analysis of complex assemblies and drawings prior to release of documentation.
  • Participate in the product development process, including design brainstorming and voice of customer activity.
  • Initiate/prepare Engineering Change Order (ECO) documentation, including the development of BOM's.
  • Perform required calculations to ensure all dimensions, tolerances, and other specifications are accurate.

Requirements

  • Two year technical degree preferably in drafting or design.
  • 3+ years of mechanical experience in drafting/design.
  • Experience using SolidWorks is a must.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration for designing, assisting, and directing the build of components and assemblies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ENOVIA PLM system.
  • JD Edwards experience.
  • Knowledge of brazing/welding of copper, stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of tubing and manifold designs for fluids.
  • Knowledge of plastic part design.
