About the position
The Mechanical Designer position at Southern Erectors involves engineering and designing mechanical componentry for industrial air systems, particularly in the Pulp & Paper industry. The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D design, with 3D modeling experience being a plus. The designer will create detailed drawings for various mechanical components and support structures, ensuring adherence to project specifications and design data.
Responsibilities
- Create drawings for mechanical componentry, industrial air systems, support steel, and access.
- Generate field erection and shop fabrication detail drawings.
- Detail connections based on engineer-provided input.
- Read and understand specifications, project scope, design data, and field data.
- Check drawings generated by others as needed.
Requirements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D design.
- Experience in AutoCAD 3D modeling is a plus.
- Ability to obtain field measurements and climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms.
- Clear communication skills in English.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Experience in the Pulp & Paper industry.
