About the position
The Medical Assistant I - Float position at GI Alliance involves providing both clinical and administrative support across various offices within the region. The role is essential for ensuring smooth patient care and operational efficiency, assisting physicians with patient interactions, and managing clerical tasks to enhance the patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a medical assistant float between offices as needed.
- Assist physicians with patient care and clinical tasks.
- Handle clerical responsibilities including managing patient records and scheduling appointments.
- Collect patient history and vital signs, and perform screenings as per provider guidelines.
- Administer medications and relay instructions to patients and families.
- Conduct phone triage and provide pertinent information to patients.
- Ensure patient rights are respected and respond appropriately to emergency codes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited institution, or relevant college course in medical assisting.
- Minimum one year of recent experience as a medical assistant in a medical facility or completion of an externship in a medical office.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle with good driving record and insurance.
- Knowledge of healthcare field and EMR systems.
- Skills in performing medical assistance tasks, written and verbal communication, and understanding patient education needs.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice.
