About the position

The Medical Assistant Instructor position at Skilltrade in Troy, MI, is designed for individuals passionate about healthcare education. Responsibilities

  • Teach courses related to medical assisting, including anatomy & physiology, medical office procedures, patient care, clinical procedures, and medical terminology.
  • Deliver content in accordance with approved curriculum and ensure educational goals are met.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and practical exercises, to engage students.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student success.
  • Offer feedback on assignments and monitor student progress.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful classroom atmosphere.
  • Ensure that students comply with health and safety protocols during clinical labs and hands-on exercises.
  • Administer and grade practical assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance and help them improve.
  • Collaborate with the program director and other faculty to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training, and development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grading.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Assisting Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is required or a related field certificate completion.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a medical assisting role.
  • Strong knowledge of medical assisting procedures, medical office operations, and patient care.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex medical concepts to students with varying levels of experience.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic learning management systems (LMS).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through a recognized certifying body is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in a medical assistant program or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations is preferred.
