About the position
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. This position involves tracking patient information, documenting medical records, assisting with in-office procedures, administering medications, and providing education to patients and caregivers. The MA operates under the supervision of professional clinical staff and is integral to ensuring a positive patient experience and efficient healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients and guests to examination rooms.
- Document reasons for visits and assess patient information for follow-up needs.
- Perform initial response screenings and obtain patient vital signs.
- Enter medication, laboratory, and radiology orders into the electronic medical record.
- Perform diagnostic tests and administer prescribed medications as directed by healthcare providers.
- Communicate laboratory and diagnostic test results to patients as directed by providers.
- Participate in disease management programs under supervision.
- Provide patient and family education as directed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines.
- Support other offices and participate in required meetings and training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
- Valid CPR certification.
- 0-1 year of previous clinical experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- Ability to perform all NEO Basic Competencies and obtain accurate patient vital statistics.
- Proficient in medical terminology and operating standard computer systems.
Nice-to-haves

- Certification as a Medical Assistant from a recognized certifying agency.
