About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Pediatric Associates involves providing quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician. The role encompasses both clinical and administrative functions aimed at promoting health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment, particularly for pediatric patients. The Medical Assistant will support clinician and care management teams in chronic disease management, examinations, and treatments, ensuring a high-quality patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high quality patient experience and ensure a safe patient environment.
  • Perform and document patient intake vitals including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
  • Interview patients and update medical records with relevant information.
  • Obtain necessary medical records and diagnostic results for clinician review.
  • Prepare patients for clinician examinations and ensure clinician orders are performed and documented accurately.
  • Assist clinicians in age-appropriate screenings and procedures under supervision.
  • Perform vaccine and medication reconciliation and provide education to patients/parents.
  • Ensure proper handling and administration of vaccines and medications.
  • Complete patient follow-up tasks including answering phones and handling correspondence.
  • Perform phlebotomy and lab sample collection as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical foreign doctors must have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Medicine or equivalent.
  • MA Diploma/Certification required or a minimum of 3 years MA experience.
  • Active BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and immunization practices.
  • Proficiency in electronic health recordkeeping systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
