About the position
The Medical Assistant position at Pediatric Associates involves providing quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician. The role encompasses both clinical and administrative functions aimed at promoting health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment, particularly for pediatric patients. The Medical Assistant will support clinician and care management teams in chronic disease management, examinations, and treatments, ensuring a high-quality patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high quality patient experience and ensure a safe patient environment.
- Perform and document patient intake vitals including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
- Interview patients and update medical records with relevant information.
- Obtain necessary medical records and diagnostic results for clinician review.
- Prepare patients for clinician examinations and ensure clinician orders are performed and documented accurately.
- Assist clinicians in age-appropriate screenings and procedures under supervision.
- Perform vaccine and medication reconciliation and provide education to patients/parents.
- Ensure proper handling and administration of vaccines and medications.
- Complete patient follow-up tasks including answering phones and handling correspondence.
- Perform phlebotomy and lab sample collection as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical foreign doctors must have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Medicine or equivalent.
- MA Diploma/Certification required or a minimum of 3 years MA experience.
- Active BLS certification required upon hire.
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
