About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and submission of claims, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures to facilitate timely reimbursement for services rendered.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records to extract necessary information for billing purposes.
• Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims to ensure timely payment.
• Resolve billing discrepancies by communicating with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives.
• Maintain organized records of all billing transactions and ensure compliance with medical office policies.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure adherence to industry standards.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to improve billing processes and enhance patient satisfaction.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing or a similar role within a medical office setting.
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG methodologies.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and coding tasks.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Certification in medical coding or billing is preferred but not required.
