About the position

The Medical Records Clerk position at Us Heart and Vascular involves managing and maintaining patient medical records with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. The role requires exceptional organizational skills and proficiency in electronic medical record systems, ensuring accurate documentation and efficient processing of medical record requests.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate copying and provision of medical records
  • Scanning and filing of medical record images into the electronic medical record (EMR/Nextgen)
  • Managing the Medical Records Inbox
  • Processing medical record requests from internal and external customers
  • Correcting unprocessed documents in EMR
  • Assisting in rotation of answering hospital consult line
  • Assisting Scheduling team with overflow calls as needed
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Knowledge & Understanding of HIPAA
  • Knowledge & Understanding of Medical Records Rights to Access Policy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to scan papers in patient charts according to BHC standards
  • Requires analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Effective organization skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to self-direct with minimal supervision
