About the position

The Medication Aide at Harbor View Assisted Living is responsible for administering prescribed medications and treatments to residents, ensuring compliance with state regulations. This role also involves supporting residents with daily living activities while promoting their independence and dignity. The position requires effective communication and documentation skills, as well as a compassionate approach to care.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments to residents in accordance with state regulations.
• Observe residents taking medications and note any effects, including unexpected or adverse reactions.
• Document required information in residents' medication administration records accurately.
• Communicate any concerns or observations to the Wellness Director, Wellness Coordinator, or designated personnel.
• Support residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene and socialization.
• Encourage resident independence and support resident choice.

Requirements

• Successful completion of medication assistance training in compliance with state regulations.
• Maintains up-to-date medication certification requirements according to state regulations.
• Compassionate and empathetic in personal interactions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Self-supervising and self-motivating; willing to collaborate as a team member.
• Adaptable and flexible; highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior direct care experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current CPR certification preferred.
