About the position

The Mental Health Worker position at Sheppard Pratt involves working under the supervision of a licensed nurse to assess and address the needs of patients in an inpatient setting. The role includes participating in the planning and evaluation of patient care based on individual behaviors and conditions. The position offers flexible scheduling options, including full-time, part-time, and as-needed shifts, with a focus on professional development and support for ongoing education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of patient needs based on individual behaviors and conditions.
  • Work closely with a licensed nurse to provide direct care to patients.
  • Participate in extended clinical orientation and training provided by the Clinical Education Department.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team to support patient care.
  • Be available to work every other weekend.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • An advanced degree in a human services field is strongly preferred, either in progress or already obtained.
  • Past direct care or related experience is strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Certification in CPR or First Aid.
