About the position

The Micro/Nano Fabrication Lithography Specialist at Princeton University will focus on lithography processes, including electron beam lithography and photolithography, within the Micro and Nano Fabrication Center (MNFC). This role involves overseeing and maintaining lithography systems, developing processes, and mentoring users in a collaborative research environment. The position supports cutting-edge research in various scientific fields and contributes to the growth of the MNFC facility.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, maintain, and troubleshoot two electron beam lithography systems, developing processes for switching between the two systems.
  • Liaise with service engineers for routine maintenance, service calls, and upgrades to hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain process development protocols and electron beam optimization software.
  • Oversee, maintain, troubleshoot, and train users on contact lithography tools, direct-write and mask writing photolithography tools, spin coaters, and develop tools.
  • Manage a two-photon photopolymerization system for micro-3D printing.
  • Utilize PDMS soft lithography toolset and develop/teach short courses.
  • Train new MNFC users (internal and external) and support existing tool users by advising on process parameters and performing process development for baseline processes.
  • Support the daily operation of MNFC and assist with laboratory incidents.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree (PhD preferred) in physics, chemistry, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years' relevant work experience in clean room environments.
  • Deep working knowledge of micro/nano process/tool characterization, optimization, and maintenance.
  • Experience in electron beam lithography equipment and their associated processes.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom laboratory with compressed gases, acids, solvents, and other chemicals.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD in physics, chemistry, engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor/photonics industry and/or user facility where industrial problems are addressed.
  • Hands-on experience with photo or electron beam lithography in patterning 2D materials.
  • Experience with GenISys BEAMER and TRACER software.
  • Experience with Suss contact aligners and/or Heidelberg Direct Write photolithography systems.
