About the position

The Field Safety Specialist at Adams Electric Company is responsible for ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, as well as State and Federal regulations. This role involves conducting safety audits, providing training, and maintaining a safe working environment on construction sites. The specialist will work closely with project leadership to enforce safety policies and provide technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Construction Site and Safety Audits, including Adams Project Site Safety Inspection.
  • Participate in project handoff programs and processes, including site preparation and team acclimation.
  • Document inspections and suggest corrective measures via Adams information systems.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of field leadership personnel to ensure adherence to safety forms and inspections.
  • Ensure project sites are equipped with necessary safety apparatus, PPE, potable water, latrines, and first aid supplies.
  • Consult and advise field leadership on maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist in enforcing safety policy and environmental health guidelines.
  • Train project site personnel on various health and safety topics.
  • Provide technical surveillance and testing services as required.
  • Enforce and implement Adams Safety policies and Procedures.
  • Perform scheduled Site Safety Audits as needed or requested.
  • Assist leadership with incident and 'near miss' investigations.
  • Provide in-house training for employees on safety topics including OSHA courses, First Aid/CPR/AED, and equipment safety.
  • Record, file, and distribute training certifications for all trainees.
  • Attend safety meetings and represent Adams professionally.
  • Develop relationships with field associates, project managers, and trade contractors to ensure satisfaction with the safety program.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Adams Electric Company Environmental, Health, and Safety Manual.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926 and 29 CFR 1910).
  • Strong working knowledge of the NFPA 70E manual.
  • Skilled in creating, filing, and maintaining personnel and company records.
  • Proficient in web/database safety and training programs.
  • Proficient in writing internal and external correspondence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to focus, organize, and prioritize essential functions to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to foster and maintain teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrates proficient and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to sudden demands.
  • Ability to present and train both large and small groups regularly.
