About the position
The Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing the mortgage loan servicing activities of the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with established servicing objectives, monitoring existing programs, and making recommendations for improvements. The specialist will handle various functions related to loan servicing, including the collection of payments, maintenance of insurance policies, and responding to customer inquiries regarding loans.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and directing mortgage loan servicing activities.
- Monitor existing programs and recommend changes as needed.
- Oversee all mortgage loan servicing functions, including collections.
- Assist with maintenance of hazard insurance policies and real estate tax payments.
- Respond to customer requests for loan information.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of loan servicing personnel.
- Prepare and process real estate loan servicing documents.
- Conduct quality control activities for loan servicing.
- Maintain real estate escrow records and ensure proper documentation.
- Pay real estate taxes and insurance in a timely manner.
- Conduct annual escrow analysis and provide direction to staff.
- Maintain loan information on core operating systems and follow-up paperwork.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports for compliance with regulations.
- Type and process other real estate related loans as directed.
- Perform notary public duties and prepare satisfactions of mortgages.
- Advise branch office personnel on loan servicing procedures.
- Balance loan servicing general ledger accounts and create month-end reports.
- Conduct testing on software releases and upgrades.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of mortgage loan and/or loan servicing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of insurance programs, real estate taxation, and loan pay-offs.
- Familiarity with escrow account functions and credit reporting services.
- Ability to operate data processing programs for loan servicing functions.
- College degree or equivalent work experience required for effective communication.
