About the position

The Clinical Nurse position at Joint Base San Antonio involves serving as both a Pulmonary Lung Nodule Tracker and a Clinical Nurse for Pulmonary Disease Services. The role focuses on providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with pulmonary conditions, particularly those with solitary pulmonary nodules. Responsibilities include patient education, care coordination, and participation in research, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through a multidisciplinary approach.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Pulmonary Lung Nodule Tracker and Clinical Nurse for Pulmonary Disease Services.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver healthcare to pulmonary patients and their families.
• Counsel and educate patients and families regarding lung cancer risks and clinical interventions.
• Participate in discharge planning and research activities.
• Facilitate communication and coordinate medical services among healthcare team members.
• Monitor and coordinate care for lung nodule patients throughout the healthcare system.
• Manage the pulmonary nodule tracking database and ensure data quality.
• Screen patients for clinical trials and assist with emotional support and education.
• Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients undergoing pulmonary procedures.
• Administer medications and perform life-saving measures as needed.
• Document patient care and progress in medical records and communicate with healthcare providers.

Requirements

• US Citizenship required.
• Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in at least one US state or province/territory of the United States.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly desirable.
• Ability to pass a Child Background Check due to working with adolescent patients.
• Willingness to work alternate shifts as required.
• Compliance with mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
