About the position

The Occupational Health RN position involves utilizing nursing skills to assess patient care needs, prioritize treatments, and ensure efficient patient flow in an occupational health setting. The role requires collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care, conduct health screenings, and maintain accurate medical records while adhering to legal and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patient care needs and prioritize treatment.
  • Conduct nursing assessments including patient history and physical assessments.
  • Obtain vital signs and perform necessary medical tests.
  • Provide treatment within the scope of practice as defined by state law.
  • Collaborate with physicians or licensed practitioners for further medical treatment.
  • Identify equipment needing repair and notify the lead clinician.
  • Perform occupational health screening tests such as EKG, audiometry, spirometry, and vision tests.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and quality control procedures.
  • Document all elements of nursing assessments, treatments, and follow-up care accurately.
  • Evaluate health education needs and provide necessary training to patients.
  • Identify emergency situations and provide appropriate care.
  • Administer medications and medical treatments as directed by a physician or licensed practitioner.
  • Maintain medical records, potentially using Electronic Medical Record software.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment and follow infection control procedures.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Participate in follow-up phone calls and patient visits.

Requirements

  • Current license as Registered Nurse in CT.
  • Current certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers.
  • At least three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an emergency room, occupational health clinic, or other ambulatory care clinic.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations preferred.
