The Office Clerk/Receptionist position involves providing administrative support to an executive, relieving them of routine tasks and acting as a liaison between various offices and agencies. The role includes handling correspondence, making travel arrangements, and supervising clerical staff, while also attending meetings and functions to gather information and represent the executive's office.

Responsibilities

  • Relieve an executive of administrative details and perform related work as required.
  • Act as a liaison between the executive's office and various state and federal agencies, local organizations, and community groups.
  • Attend legislative functions and meetings to gather information.
  • Handle complaints and requests from legislators, citizens, and employees.
  • Assign, train, supervise, and evaluate clerical staff and their work.
  • Make recommendations on personnel actions such as employment and promotions.
  • Handle routine correspondence and prepare non-routine correspondence as requested.
  • Assemble information for speeches and staff meetings, and take minutes at meetings.
  • Make travel arrangements and keep expense accounts.
  • Order office supplies as needed and operate standard office machines.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • 1 year of customer service experience is required.
  • Qualifying full-time increasingly responsible sub-professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, up to four years.

Benefits

  • Temporary contract position with a pay rate of $14.40 per hour.
