About the position

Lamar University is seeking applications for an open rank faculty position in Computer Engineering, effective Spring or Fall 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a robust research program, and contributing to the department's mission of advancing knowledge in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in semiconductors and embedded systems, although other areas of Computer Engineering will also be considered. Exceptional candidates may be considered for an endowed position.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Engineering.
  • Develop and maintain a successful research program in Computer Engineering.
  • Foster collaboration across disciplines and engage with the academic and industrial communities.
  • Participate in professional societies and conferences to disseminate research results.
  • Contribute to the mission of educating students and advancing knowledge in ECE.

Requirements

  • B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Engineering or related fields.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and conducting research.
  • Ability to attract funded sponsorship in research areas related to Computer Engineering.
  • PhD degree must be earned by August 2025.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industrial experience in Computer Engineering or related fields.
  • Experience in writing research proposals and securing external funding.
  • Experience in teaching courses in Computer Engineering.
