About the position

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with existing customers while identifying new sales opportunities. This role involves monitoring industry trends to capitalize on emerging markets and developing strategies to expand revenue. The representative will engage in direct sales activities, negotiate contracts, and provide exceptional customer service to drive growth and meet sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Establish contact with existing customers and identify new opportunities.
  • Follow up on potential leads and monitor industry trends.
  • Negotiate prices or terms of sales and prepare sales contracts.
  • Visit establishments to evaluate needs and promote products or services.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding products, prices, and availability.
  • Quote prices, credit terms, and other bid specifications.
  • Assist customers in selecting products based on their needs and specifications.
  • Prepare sales presentations or proposals to explain product specifications.
  • Identify prospective customers using various resources and networks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange selling strategies and marketing information.
  • Advise customers on product usage to improve production.
  • Attend sales meetings and read publications to stay informed about market conditions.
  • Attend industry trade shows to generate leads and connect with clients.
  • Initiate sales campaigns to meet sales expectations.
  • Complete expense reports and sales reports as required.
  • Solicit sales of new or additional services or products.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • A desire to drive aggressive growth and hit sales targets with a proven track record.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of proven experience as an Outside Sales Representative or in a sales/customer service role.
  • Ability to travel as needed, typically 50% to 75% of the week.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working with little to no direction.
