About the position
The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of snack packaging machinery, ensuring continuous production and adherence to quality standards. This role involves maintaining documentation, performing preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment issues while working in a dynamic team environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain shift documentation including Metal Detector and Batch Order Verifications.
- Read production schedules and plan accordingly.
- Print labels on different printers and maintain printer cleanliness.
- Perform nitrogen testing and maintain packaging machinery operation.
- Monitor codes, dates, and prices on packaging materials.
- Set up and write new programs for bag makers and edit machine micro logic as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Efficiently operate packaging equipment including case sealers and robot cells.
- Plan for machine changeovers and ensure proper product handling during transitions.
- Monitor product appearance and adhere to weight control programs.
- Identify and resolve packaged product quality issues.
- Keep machines and work areas clean and organized.
- Report maintenance problems to technicians or supervisors.
- Adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Lock/out tag/out certified or ability to become certified within three months.
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs regularly and occasionally more than 50+ lbs with assistance.
