About the position

Our client, a Westchester-based family law firm, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Litigation Paralegal to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal procedures and possess excellent research and communication skills. The Litigation Paralegal will support attorneys in managing complex legal cases and assist in the preparation of legal documents. The Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for assisting attorneys in managing litigation cases, including conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and maintaining accurate records. The role requires utilizing legal databases such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw to research legal precedents and stay current on relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, the paralegal will conduct interviews with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and evidence, review and analyze documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, and deposition transcripts, and prepare and organize case files, ensuring accuracy and organization. Moreover, the Litigation Paralegal will assist with trial and deposition preparations, including preparing exhibits and organizing trial materials. Providing administrative support to the legal team, including handling phone calls and responding to correspondence, is also a key part of this role. The position requires performing other administrative tasks as needed, making it essential for the candidate to be adaptable and proactive in their approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in managing litigation cases, including conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal or in a divorce/family law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of legal procedures and protocols.
  • Experience with legal research and case management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other legal software.
