About the position

The Parts Room Specialist is responsible for managing special parts orders related to capital and improvement projects, ensuring technical decision-making is applied in the procurement process. This role also serves as a backup administrator for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and provides support in the parts room. The position requires strong technical skills, logical thinking, and the ability to utilize root cause analysis to drive improvements in equipment and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Quality Assurance to support all Quality programs ensuring the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
  • Act as backup CMMS administrator and learn all modules in the CMMS.
  • Read and interpret parts drawings and blueprints.
  • Communicate updates on orders to all departments.
  • Record and maintain parts purchase records for audit trails.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory of the parts room.
  • Provide backup support for the parts room when the Parts Room Attendant is unavailable.
  • Request and document bids for parts, ensuring cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
  • Follow company procedures to identify appropriate vendors for sourcing parts.
  • Ensure selected parts meet repair specifications, lead time, and pricing requirements.
  • Work with finance to close purchase orders, ensuring pricing accuracy before processing payments.
  • Manage all parts ordering related to capital and improvement projects requiring technical decision-making.
  • Assist with year-end project planning, ordering, and staging in the parts room.
  • Utilize root cause analysis and trend analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Promote safe work practices and procedures.
  • Attend training to develop and improve knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to proper cleaning methods, storage, and care of equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma and three to six months of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prefer experience in maintenance or parts room operations.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including use of CMMS and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills to calculate figures such as discounts and percentages.
  • Strong reasoning and logical thinking skills.
