About the position

The Patient Care Coordinator at Hanger, Inc. plays a crucial role in providing administrative support to patients and staff within the clinic. This position involves managing front office activities, ensuring a smooth patient experience, and maintaining accurate healthcare records. The coordinator will be the first point of contact for patients, assisting with check-ins, scheduling appointments, and addressing inquiries, all while upholding Hanger's commitment to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients as they enter the clinic and communicate anticipated wait times or delays.
  • Check-in patients, verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Complete patient registration for walk-in patients.
  • Collect patient out-of-pocket responsibilities such as deductibles, copays, and co-insurance.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments for patients at checkout, including casting, measuring, and delivery appointments.
  • Answer incoming calls and assist patients with inquiries.
  • Act as a concierge for Hanger clinic services, including patient experience programs and support groups.
  • Assist the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team in obtaining missing or additional information from patients.
  • Maintain accurate and complete electronic healthcare records.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy standards.
  • Successful completion of a skills assessment administered by Hanger as part of the selection process.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a medical office setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically NextGen.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and regional collection and reimbursement laws, HIPAA, and medical insurance regulations.
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute with accuracy.
