About the position

The Patient Service Representative - Hybrid Scheduler plays a crucial role in the Scheduling Team at Great Lakes Medical Imaging, working both on-site and remotely. This position focuses on effective communication and exemplary patient care, ensuring smooth scheduling processes and addressing patient needs efficiently. The representative is responsible for managing phone calls, scheduling exams, and maintaining accurate patient records while embodying the company's values of respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving inbound and making outbound phone calls.
  • Answering a multi-line telephone system, taking accurate messages, and directing calls efficiently.
  • Confirming patient's insurance provider and obtaining authorization numbers as needed.
  • Scheduling exams based on departmental availability and patient requests.
  • Providing detailed information to patients regarding test preparations and arrival times.
  • Entering notes or special instructions in patient charts.
  • Acquiring necessary medical records and documents for patient charts.
  • Triaging and assigning prescriptions, authorizations, and doctors' notes to patient exams.
  • Checking voicemails and handling them appropriately.
  • Logging into the phone queue at the beginning of the shift and logging out at the end.

Requirements

  • Strong computer skills including use of information systems and Google-based programs.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
  • Strong customer service skills and diplomacy.
  • Experience in radiology or medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy while scheduling multiple exams.
  • Thoroughness and ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude.

  • Experience in customer service is desirable.
