Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming patient telephone calls to schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
  • Responds to patient appointment requests promptly and schedules all appointments according to practice guidelines.
  • Prepares weekly clinician schedules and reviews them daily to determine capacity opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with clinicians to ensure all patient visits are scheduled and completed as ordered.
  • Calls to confirm scheduled appointments and maintains patient flow throughout the day.
  • Contributes to process improvement projects and communicates effectively with patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of clerical experience in a medical office setting required.
  • Knowledge of medical office software for updating patient demographic information, posting charges, and scheduling appointments.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work with changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact with individuals of all cultures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using EPIC electronic medical records preferred.
  • Proficient in all computer software utilized in practice.
  • Familiarity with coding requirements for practice specialty.
