About the position

The Patient Services Coordinator at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a crucial role in facilitating patient care for individuals with lymphoma and myeloma. This position involves direct communication with patients and their families, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless patient experience. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, handling financial activities, and ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, orient, and answer questions for patients and family members.
  • Advise patients and family members of available services.
  • Schedule patient visits, physician appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and visitors.
  • Transcribe and coordinate physician orders.
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding appointments, scheduling, and necessary preparations to patients, families, physicians, and team members.
  • Prepare and maintain appointment templates and/or patient records electronically and/or manually as directed.
  • Update relevant patient information to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Review and reconcile patient charge documents.
  • Enter technical charges as needed and may collect and reconcile cash payments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of relevant work experience, with the possibility of substituting additional education for required experience on a one-to-one basis.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
