About the position

The Performance Improvement Specialist 3 at Tampa General Hospital is responsible for leading quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing operational and clinical quality initiatives. This role involves managing projects through all phases, from identification and prioritization to completion and transition, while ensuring alignment with departmental needs and hospital objectives. The specialist will utilize data analysis and visualization skills to communicate findings effectively and support decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality improvement projects to achieve hospital goals and objectives.
  • Lead improvement projects through all phases including identification, prioritization, definition, team facilitation, adherence to timelines, action planning, and project completion.
  • Collaborate with management to understand department needs and ensure project alignment and results.
  • Utilize performance and process improvement methods to support operational and clinical quality initiatives.
  • Evaluate and improve healthcare processes and care transitions for defined populations.
  • Leverage data analytics to guide decision-making and inform quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote patient safety by improving processes that detect, mitigate, or prevent harm.
  • Support compliance with internal and external regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Direct activities that support compliance with reporting requirements for data acquisition, analysis, and improvement.
  • Engage in the healthcare quality profession with a commitment to ethical practice and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, healthcare, business administration, or equivalent healthcare practitioner experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality/performance improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Intermediate project management skills required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in data reporting applications such as Vizient Benchmarking Database and Qliksense.
  • Certified Professional in HealthCare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Bronze, PMP or comparable certification is preferred.
