The Pharmacy Technician - Non Certified at Hy-Vee plays a crucial role in providing excellent customer service while assisting pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of prescription medications. This part-time position emphasizes a friendly and efficient approach to customer interactions, ensuring a positive shopping experience. The technician will handle various tasks, including processing prescriptions, maintaining pharmacy supplies, and adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and enhancing the shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
• Handles inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Accepts new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests at the discretion of the supervising pharmacist.
• Gathers patient information required to prepare prescriptions and enters it into the computer.
• Assists pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing and affixes labels to prescription containers.
• Prepares prescriptions to be mailed and submits insurance claims.
• Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area and assists with third party insurance billing.
• Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel and orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working towards a licensed technician certification through a certified national program.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk is preferred.
• If applicable, vaccination certification as required by law.
