About the position

The Postdoctoral Associate position at Rutgers University involves conducting neuroimaging research within the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The role focuses on assisting with research projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing methods for processing and analyzing neuroimaging data. The associate will work independently, contribute to grant applications, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with colleagues to advance research initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff and Principal Investigator with neuroimaging research projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory protocols (IRB and IACUC).
• Design, test, and evaluate methods for processing and analyzing neuroimage data.
• Summarize and organize collected data for publication in professional journals.
• Provide expertise and advice to the research team.
• Manage scientific operations of the laboratory.
• Submit grant applications for independent research funding.
• Perform statistical analyses related to ongoing laboratory activities.
• Train and mentor residents, junior research assistants, and students.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and assess research ideas.

Requirements

• PhD in Neuroscience, Electrophysiology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated competence in investigation, research, and project management.
• Ability to design and implement neuroimaging protocols such as DTI and fMRI.
• Experience in processing neuroimaging data including CT and MRI modalities.
• Knowledge of big data analytics and machine learning techniques.
• Expertise in programming languages is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

• Three years of postdoctoral research experience in neuroimaging techniques.
