About the position

The FERC Program Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting the Family Advocate staff at the Family Education and Resource Center (FERC) of the Mental Health Association of Alameda County. This role involves providing training, coordination, and advocacy for families dealing with mental health conditions, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and support. The supervisor will also promote mental wellness and recovery, educate the community, and oversee program outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and provide reentry support for families and their reentering loved ones.
  • Train newly hired Family Advocates and support them in their advocacy and support of family member clients and their Loved Ones.
  • Lead the Family Advocate staff in producing and providing presentations on mental health education, community resources, and family/caregiver self-care.
  • Train Family Member Peer Staff in best practice mental health support delivery.
  • Respond to community requests for technical assistance around reentry mental health issues and attend county and community meetings.
  • Represent the FERC Program in advocating for mental health supports for family members/caregivers and their Loved Ones.
  • Oversee the Family Coaching and Leadership program.
  • Responsible for meeting program outcomes and contractual service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the resource library for the main and satellite offices.
  • Organize and participate in outreach events.

Requirements

  • Lived experience as the primary caregiver and/or direct family member of a loved one diagnosed with a mental health condition and/or substance use condition.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Supervisor.
  • Bachelor's Degree (additional experience may be substituted for degree requirement).
  • Demonstrated excellence in service-oriented communication and teamwork.
  • Must successfully pass a fingerprint background check by CADOJ and FBI.
  • Must be able to provide proof of full Covid 19 vaccination plus CDC and/or Alameda County recommended boosters.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid CA Drivers License, daily access to a working motor vehicle, and maintain legally required vehicle liability insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience navigating the Alameda County Behavioral Health Care System and crisis support services.
  • Experience working as a mental health Family Peer Support Specialist.
  • Experience working with underserved and diverse communities.
  • Bilingual in one of Alameda County's threshold languages: Cantonese, Farsi, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese.
