About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that our supply chain operates smoothly and efficiently. This position requires strong skills in inventory management, sourcing, and logistics to support our operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular inventory control checks.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing and terms for purchasing agreements.
  • Support the supply chain team by assisting in sourcing new vendors and products.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the logistics team to manage incoming shipments.
  • Assist in resolving any discrepancies related to purchases or inventory issues.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal departments regarding purchasing needs.
  • Assist repair coordinators in obtaining pricing for jobs that are not yet released.
  • Get multiple vendor bids to meet price/delivery goals.
  • Locate alternate suppliers for items that are not readily available from primary suppliers.
  • Purchase items for jobs once jobs are released for repair or manufacturing.
  • Create purchase orders in QuickBooks with accurate pricing, quantities, and delivery expectations.
  • Establish due dates for purchased items.
  • Follow-up on items which have not arrived by their due date.
  • Work with repair coordinators, machine shop, and other stakeholders to expedite orders when required.
  • Coordinate with the shipping/receiving/transportation teams to ensure proper shipment and receipt of goods.
  • Purchase supplies and consumables.
  • Work with facility and front office team to maintain proper inventories of supplies such as machine shop tooling, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Evaluate and manage vendors/suppliers.
  • Research and identify potential suppliers, assess their reliability, quality, pricing, and delivery capabilities.
  • Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and discounts with vendors to achieve the best value for the company.
  • Meet with vendors or suppliers to discuss and resolve issues such as missed deadlines or unsatisfactory service or product quality.
  • Put together cost and reliability metrics for vendors as needed.

Requirements

  • 1 year of purchasing experience (Required)
  • 1 year of procurement experience (Preferred)
  • Ability to commute to Houston, TX 77075 (Required)
  • Ability to relocate to Houston, TX 77075 before starting work (Required)
