Odyssey Information Services is collaborating with a Houston-based energy company to recruit an experienced Quality Tester. This position is located onsite in downtown Houston and is classified as a contract role, with the potential for conversion to a full-time position. The primary responsibility of the Quality Tester is to review both business and technical requirements for software applications to ensure they are clear, complete, and testable. The tester will gain expert-level knowledge of business processes and the supporting applications, which is crucial for effective test planning for both new and existing software applications. The role encompasses all types of testing necessary to ensure a high-quality application, including but not limited to feature/functionality testing, deployment and configuration testing, performance testing, integration testing, and usability testing. The Quality Tester will track coverage, progress, and results of testing using a software application lifecycle management tool. Additionally, the tester will develop and support harnesses that enable rapid, repeatable, and reportable test execution. A significant aspect of the role involves automating test scenarios with the goal of reducing the time and cost of testing throughout the application lifecycle while improving test coverage and depth. The Quality Tester will also monitor the quality of the application, assessing its readiness for release by collaborating directly with the development team to ensure that any issues are identified and resolved promptly. This includes filing and tracking software defects within the software application lifecycle management tool and ensuring that development and quality standards are defined and adhered to. The tester will monitor software quality issues that arise post-release, triaging these issues and working with the development team to expedite fixes. Other duties may be assigned by management to maintain high-quality applications.
