About the position
The Quality Control Technician at Oldcastle Infrastructure is responsible for ensuring the quality of precast products through various inspection and testing processes. This role involves performing routine quality control functions on raw materials, in-process components, and final products in both indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments. The technician will report to the Quality Control Manager and play a key role in maintaining quality standards and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-pour inspection checks for wet cast operations.
- Conduct post-pour inspection checks for wet cast operations.
- Participate in Corrective Action Reports for nonconforming products.
- Monitor production operations and report deficiencies as required.
- Perform material gradation testing as necessary.
- Conduct daily wet tests for concrete production pours.
- Perform daily compressive strength testing of hardened concrete specimens.
- Maintain record keeping of quality documents, reports, inspections, etc.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of lab equipment as required.
- Assist with operation and maintenance of the Batching System.
- Report to management on process improvements, repetitive mistakes, and quality concerns.
- Assist other Quality Control personnel as requested.
- Ensure all precast products are correctly marked.
Requirements
- Previous quality control experience in the Construction Industry, with precast experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills and understanding of basic math and geometry.
- Ability to read/write simple instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
- Currently holds (or has the ability to attain within 90 days) Quality Control Certifications including ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. periodically throughout the day.
