About the position

The Quality Improvement Consultant at St. Elizabeth Healthcare is responsible for supporting the implementation of quality-related performance improvement initiatives, enhancing patient satisfaction, and ensuring compliance with external regulatory agency activities. This role aims to promote optimal healthcare outcomes by collaborating with clinical departments and utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma and LEAN to drive improvements in both clinical and non-clinical areas. The Consultant will analyze data, produce deliverables, and work closely with various teams to meet organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of system-wide improvement methodologies consistent with the organization's strategic plan.
  • Deliver on clinical and non-clinical goals in collaboration with the Quality team and Analytics Lead.
  • Analyze, implement, and manage clinical Performance Improvement and Patient Satisfaction initiatives.
  • Spearhead organization-wide monitoring and evaluation activities using continuous performance improvement tools.
  • Create quality improvement action plans as necessary and provide feedback on system effectiveness.
  • Identify and resolve potential clinical information system problems in coordination with IS staff.
  • Serve as a consultant on complex cases and identify needs for focused reviews and improvement activities.
  • Educate on accreditation and regulatory agency standards in process redesign.
  • Participate in accreditation activities and regulatory agency site visits.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to complete project life cycles on time and on budget.
  • Support development of project deliverables and benefit tracking reports.
  • Document project assumptions and identify risks, communicating mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with Data/Analytics team on data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare and present reports on projects and quality issues.
  • Support data needs for regulatory quality reporting and state initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain quality indicators and dictionaries.
  • Train new employees on quality improvement concepts and software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Certification in LEAN or Six Sigma methodologies (within 6 months of hire).
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in quality/process improvement or related fields.
  • Experience with improvement sciences such as Lean, Six Sigma, IHI PDSA.
  • Ability to analyze and maintain databases and prepare project plans.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and statistical software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare delivery operations.
  • Knowledge of DRGs and ICD-10 codes.
