About the position

The Radiology Technologist at Kings Mills Hospital is a certified health professional responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. This role involves obtaining patient histories, positioning patients for imaging, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting licensed practitioners during specialized procedures. The position is PRN, meaning it is on an as-needed basis, providing flexibility in scheduling while contributing to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work, ensuring documentation is available for licensed practitioners.
  • Position and immobilize patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient comfort.
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Perform radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment and associated accessories.
  • Verify informed consent and complete pre and post-procedure documentation.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures.
  • Apply appropriate aseptic surgical techniques as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an ARRT accredited institute (preferred).
  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (required).
  • State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state).
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (required prior to direct patient care).
  • 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).
  • Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred).
  • Skills in patient-centered care, monitoring patient conditions, recording medical histories, and working within an interdisciplinary team.
