About the position

The Receptionist/Front Office position in a healthcare setting is responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, and ensuring smooth operations within the medical clinic. This role requires excellent customer service skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience in a fast-paced environment. The receptionist will handle high-volume scheduling, verify insurance eligibility, and assist patients with their inquiries, contributing to a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors entering the organization and direct them to the correct destination.
  • Manage high volume scheduling and phone handling in a fast-paced environment.
  • Verify patient demographics and update information in the EMR at each visit.
  • Schedule patients with multiple physicians and coordinate patient scheduling in other departments.
  • Review and obtain patient co-payments and handle incoming/outgoing faxes.
  • Document outgoing/incoming phone calls in the EMR system.
  • Follow up on outstanding items such as MD orders, authorizations, and eligibility verification.
  • Assist in new patient registration in the EMR system, preferably EPIC.
  • Answer in-basket messages via EMR in a timely manner and assist patients with signing up for the patient portal.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year experience in a medical clinic setting.
  • Experience in high volume scheduling and phone handling.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Armenian is required.
  • Understanding of health insurance and medical terminology is essential.
  • Knowledge of Managed Care insurances and government payers (Medicare, MediCal).
  • Skilled in prepping future patient visits by reviewing patient demographics and medical administrative forms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with telehealth services.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly EPIC.
