The Referral Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring the timely and efficient processing of referral orders. This position involves organizing, coordinating, and communicating necessary information to various stakeholders, including patients, family members, providers, office staff, and insurance representatives. The specialist is also responsible for scheduling appointments with specialists and facilities, as well as obtaining necessary insurance precertifications and authorizations.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of work experience in a medical office setting is required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail are essential.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a Medical Office Assistant is preferred.
• Experience with referral coordination is preferred.
• Experience working with health insurance payors is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 is preferred.
