About the position

The Refrigeration Technician position at Albertsons involves monitoring and maintaining building equipment for safety and efficiency. The role focuses on troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical issues, performing necessary repairs, and documenting solutions. The technician will also manage communications for service calls and ensure compliance with state and local codes.

Responsibilities

  • Make daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins.
  • Maintain all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems and perform necessary repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections, and maintain required documentation.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance work done by outside contractors and notify the Area Refrigeration Manager of any issues.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, document solutions, and recommend further action.
  • Maintain a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Manage communications for service calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current licenses, inspections, permits, and certificates to meet all state and local codes.
  • Operate EMS building controls and automation systems, adjusting set points and schedules as needed.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as ordering materials, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of building-related vocational-technical programs preferred.
  • Minimum of three years recent experience performing refrigeration service and maintenance work in building-related trades.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
  • Ability to respond to direct and radio requests promptly.
  • Ability to maintain a neat uniform appearance and wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
  • General record-keeping skills.
  • Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers and others.
  • Ability to work independently.
